Drug traffickers flee car at sight of police, 50kg of cannabis found inside

Jorargonj Police Station officers in Chattogram’s Mirsarai upazila have recovered 50 kilograms of cannabis from a private car during a raid.

The raid took place around 4:30 p.m. Monday, August 17, on a road near the RCL field in the Modhyom Sonapahar Bedepara area of Ward 8, Jorargonj union, in the upazila.

Police said a team led by Sub-Inspector Md Saddam Hossain conducted the raid based on a tip-off. They searched a silver private car (registration Chattogram Metro-Ga-12-9964) and recovered 50 kilograms of cannabis packed into 25 bundles inside three plastic sacks.

Each bundle contained two kilograms of cannabis. Three to four unidentified traffickers fled on foot after noticing the police presence.

Jorargonj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Halim said: “Police operations against narcotics remain ongoing. Acting on a tip-off, we raided the location and seized 50 kilograms of cannabis along with the private car used to transport it. Efforts are under way to identify those involved and bring them to justice. A case is being filed in connection with the incident.”
