Dewanganj road accident victim dies in hospital

A young man critically injured in a road accident in Dewanganj, Jamalpur, has died while undergoing treatment in hospital. The deceased, Solaiman Hossain, 33, died early Wednesday morning, August 19.

Solaiman Hossain was a resident of Char Kalikapur village, Ward 3, Dewanganj municipality, and reportedly served as joint organizing secretary of the upazila Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal. He is survived by his wife and two young children.

According to family sources, Solaiman Hossain was sitting beside the busy Dewanganj-Bakshiganj road in his home village of Char Kalikapur on the night of Monday, August 17, when a speeding motorcycle with dim headlights struck him hard and fled the scene. Hearing his cries, nearby residents rushed to the scene and first took the injured Solaiman to Dewanganj Upazila Health Complex, then to Jamalpur General Hospital. As his condition worsened there, the attending physician referred him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. He died there in the early hours of Wednesday, August 19, while undergoing treatment.

His death was confirmed by Md Faridul Haque Shikku, former councillor of Ward 3 of Dewanganj municipality, and Md Faruk Hossain, senior vice president of the upazila Jubodal and the deceased’s uncle.
