Two young boys have drowned in a pond beside their home in Trishal, Mymensingh. The incident occurred around midday Monday, August 17, in the Sotero Para area of Trishal union in the upazila.
The boys, ages 4 and 5, were from the Sotero Para area.
Police and local sources said the two boys were playing in the yard around 2:30 p.m. when they accidentally fell into the adjacent pond. Family members searched for them and pulled both from the pond unconscious, then rushed them to Trishal Upazila Health Complex, where physicians declared them dead.
The incident has cast a pall of grief over the area, with the wailing of relatives filling the surroundings.
Trishal Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mansur Ahmed confirmed the incident, saying an unnatural death case is being processed at the station.
