Online applications for admission to undergraduate programmes at the University of Dhaka (DU) for the 2026-27 academic year will begin on 11 November. Applications will be accepted until 11:59pm on 25 November. Admission tests for the five units will begin on 5 December and end on 26 December.
The decisions were taken at a meeting of the university’s general admission committee held on Sunday (2 August) at the auditorium of the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building. Vice-Chancellor Professor ABM Obaidul Islam chaired the meeting.
The meeting was told that, as before, the admission tests would be held through five units: “Arts, Law and Social Sciences”, “Science”, “Business Studies”, “Fine Arts” and “IBA”.
According to the schedule, the IBA unit test will be held on 5 December, the Science unit on 12 December, the Arts, Law and Social Sciences unit on 19 December, the Fine Arts unit (general knowledge and drawing) on 22 December and the Business Studies unit on 26 December.
Tests for all units except IBA will be held from 11am to 12:30pm. The IBA unit test will run from 10am to 12pm.
Except for the Fine Arts and IBA units, tests for the other three units will be held in eight divisional cities including Dhaka. The centres are the University of Dhaka, University of Rajshahi, University of Chattogram, Khulna University, University of Barishal, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh Agricultural University (Mymensingh) and Begum Rokeya University.
It was also decided that classes for the coming academic year would begin on 28 March 2027.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Abdus Salam, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Mohammad Almojaddedi Alfesani, Treasurer Professor M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, deans of various faculties, department chairmen, institute directors, hall provosts and others concerned were present at the meeting.
