Education Desk:
Shahrin Amin Bhuiya (Monami) has resigned from her position as Assistant Proctor of Dhaka University (DU).
In a Facebook post on Monday (May 11), she confirmed her resignation.
“I have officially resigned from my position as the Assistant Proctor at the University of Dhaka,” Bhuiya wrote in the post.
She said she never had any desire to take on administrative responsibilities during her seven years as an educator, having taught at Bangladesh University of Professionals, Jagannath University, and DU. However, she became interested in taking on the role after receiving a call from Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed on August 28, 2024.
In the post, she wrote, “I am an ordinary lecturer, even more ordinary human being, yet I took up a responsibility that usually only senior faculty members get. Me!!!”
She further added, “It was a new Bangladesh with so much hope and dreams in our eyes. If I could do something good for my country, my institution, what more fortune could I ask for! And on top of that, the respect I got from my department’s senior brothers and sisters, I will acknowledge it!”
Appreciating former Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed, she wrote, “In the last two years, I have learned from Saifuddin Sir how a proctor should maintain utmost patience, handle heated situations with a smiling face, and above all, keep their self-respect high.”
She also mentioned that despite having authority, he always kept humility and respect for students at the forefront. As members of his team, they tried to follow suit.
Reflecting on her tenure, Bhuiya said she would not evaluate her success or failures. “I only know I had an extraordinary human being’s leadership and an amazing team experience,” she wrote.
Concluding the post, she wished the new proctor and his team the best in carrying out their significant responsibility.
