Leaders and workers of the BNP and its affiliated and associate organisations were present in front of the memorial’s main gate to welcome the acting president and chanted various slogans.

The chiefs of the armed forces and senior civil and military officials were present at the event.

Special security arrangements were put in place in the National Martyrs’ Memorial area from yesterday, Saturday, for the acting president’s visit. Members of special security units served alongside law-enforcement agencies.

Despite the tight security, however, traffic on the Dhaka-Aricha highway remained normal, so ordinary passengers and pedestrians faced no difficulty.
