A discussion and reception was held in Chowddagram to honor students who achieved a GPA-5 in this year’s SSC exams, alongside a meeting between the Cumilla district commissioner and local parents and students aimed at improving the quality of secondary education.
The event, jointly organized by the Chowddagram Upazila Secondary Education Office and Chowddagram Secondary Pilot Girls’ High School, was held Monday afternoon, August 24, in the school hall. Cumilla Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ms Rozy Akter attended as chief guest.
The discussion, chaired by Chowddagram Upazila Nirbahi Officer and school managing committee chairman Shahadat Hossain, featured remarks from special guests including Md Arif Hossain, officer-in-charge of Chowddagram police station; Syed Shafkat Ali, upazila assistant commissioner (land); and A.K.M. Mir Hossain, upazila secondary education officer.
The school’s headmaster, Md Jamal Hossain, delivered the welcome address.
Moderated by assistant teacher Nazmul Hasan, other speakers included Sirajul Islam Farayezi, president of the Chowddagram Press Club; Jahangir Hossain, former vice-president of Chowddagram Government College; Md Gias Uddin, organizing secretary of the upazila BNP, and Jahangir Hossain, a former municipal commissioner, both speaking on behalf of parents; and students Tasnia Mostafa, who achieved a GPA-5 in the SSC exams, along with 10th-grade students Nusrat Jahan Ishfa and Maisha Fairooz Patwary, among others.
At the event, 13 accomplished students from Chowddagram Secondary Pilot Girls’ High School who achieved a GPA-5 in this year’s SSC exams were honored with certificates and books. Chief guest Deputy Commissioner Rozy Akter presented the gifts to the students.
