CUET admission test likely on January 23

The level-one undergraduate admission test at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) for the 2026-2027 academic year has provisionally been set for January 23. Professor Dr Kazi Delwar Hossain, chair of CUET’s undergraduate admission committee and dean of the faculty of electrical and computer engineering, confirmed the information on Saturday (September 19).

The university authorities will publish a detailed notice later covering the full schedule of the admission test, the application process, eligibility, the number of seats and other matters.

CUET currently admits students to 12 departments at level one. They are civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, computer science and engineering, electronics and telecommunication engineering, biomedical engineering, materials and metallurgical engineering, mechatronics and industrial engineering, petroleum and mining engineering, water resources engineering, urban and regional planning, and architecture.

In the 2025-26 academic year there were 920 regular seats across 12 departments under CUET’s four faculties. Beyond that there were 11 reserved seats — one for the Rakhine community and 10 for small ethnic groups from the Chittagong Hill Tracts and other districts — bringing the total number of seats in the admission test to 931.
