Dengue deaths this year reach 250, with 82,761 cases

One more person has died of dengue in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, and 1,163 patients have been admitted to hospital with the disease. That brings this year’s dengue deaths to 250 and total cases to 82,761.

The figures came in a press release from the Directorate General of Health Services’ Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room on Friday.

Between 8am on Thursday and 8am on Friday, 151 patients were admitted in Barishal division, 333 in Chattogram, 295 in Dhaka division outside the city corporations, 80 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 45 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 111 in Khulna, 77 in Mymensingh and 71 in Rangpur, the release said. In the same period 1,163 patients were discharged after recovering.

September has been the deadliest month so far this year, with 148 deaths, the directorate said. Of all patients this year, 62.4 percent are male and 37.6 percent female.
