One more child dies with measles symptoms

One more child has died with measles symptoms in the country in the past 24 hours. The death occurred between 8 a.m. on Sunday and 8 a.m. on Monday. In the same period, measles or measles symptoms were seen in 1,009 children.

The figures were given in the Directorate General of Health Services’ updated measles report on Monday (July 13) afternoon.

The notice said one more child had died with measles symptoms in the country in the past 24 hours, but that no child had died of confirmed measles.

With this, from March 15 until now, a total of 665 children have died with measles symptoms across the country, and another 94 children have died of confirmed measles, meaning that 759 children in all have died of measles or measles symptoms in that period.

In addition, 113 children were confirmed with measles in the 24 hours, while the number of patients with measles symptoms was 896. Over the same period, 856 children were newly admitted to hospital and 878 were discharged. According to the Directorate General of Health Services, from March 15 to date the total number of suspected measles patients stands at 112,376 and confirmed measles patients at 13,613. Of these, a total of 95,196 patients were admitted to hospital, of whom 91,483 have been discharged and have returned home.
