A passenger bus lost control and plunged into a ditch in Gopalganj’s Muksudpur upazila, killing three people. At least 20 other passengers were injured.
The accident occurred around 11 a.m. Sunday in the Gerakhola area of Muksudpur upazila, on the Dhaka-Khulna highway.
As of this report, the identities of the deceased had not been confirmed.
Police and local sources said a Dhaka-bound bus of the “Tungipara Express” line, traveling from Khulna, lost control around 11 a.m. upon reaching the Gerakhola area and plunged into a deep ditch beside the road. Three passengers died at the scene, and at least 20 others were injured. On receiving the news, fire service personnel, with help from locals, quickly began rescue operations.
The injured were admitted to Muksudpur Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
Muksudpur police station’s officer-in-charge, Abdullah Al Mamun, said police had inspected the scene and were taking the necessary steps to complete the rescue operation and remove the bus.
