Iran’s military will respond to any attack with a far more extensive and powerful response than before, Brig. Gen. Mohammad Akraminia, spokesman for the country’s armed forces, has warned. He said that drawing lessons from recent wars, Iran’s military strategy is gradually shifting from a “defensive” posture toward a more “offensive” one.
“Our country’s military policy used to be defensive,” Akraminia said. “But from our experience in the last two wars, we’ve seen our military strategy gradually shift from a defensive posture toward an offensive one.”
He made clear, however, that this shift does not mean launching preemptive strikes against an enemy. “This doesn’t mean we’ll carry out preemptive operations against an enemy,” he said. “But we will respond immediately to any aggression, and that response will be more extensive than the scale of the aggression itself.”
The Iranian military official said equipment and systems damaged in earlier fighting have been repaired, while new military systems and technology have also been added to the armed forces. “We are working continuously so that if the enemy miscalculates again, we can deliver an even more devastating response than before,” he said.
He also said the Strait of Hormuz’s geopolitical importance has grown further since the war.
Referring to recent defense partnerships between Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan, Akraminia said the initiative signals a decline in U.S. influence in the Middle East.
