Education

Sumaiya is in the tenth grade — the prettiest girl at Ujirpur High School. She’s lively and outspoken, though not particularly focused on her studies. Countless boys are smitten with her, and proposals come her way almost daily. But Sumaiya has never accepted any of them.

Meanwhile, a new math teacher named Ayon joins the school. Sumaiya spends the entire class staring at him — he’s exactly the kind of person she’s always imagined. She falls for him at first sight. The young teacher Ayon quickly befriends his students, and Sumaiya starts meeting him after class, claiming she didn’t understand the lesson and asking him to explain it again.

She does this often, her real purpose being simply to be near Ayon. Unable to keep her feelings hidden any longer, Sumaiya eventually tells Ayon directly that she loves him. Taken aback, Ayon tells her not to think that way. Sumaiya refuses to accept it. To finally stop her, Ayon tells her that if she studies seriously and gets good results, he’ll consider her proposal.

Until then, he says, he won’t speak to her. Sumaiya agrees and throws herself into her studies. After scoring well on her exams, she rushes to share the happy news with Ayon — but can’t find him anywhere. And so the story unfolds. The drama is titled “Shalik Balika.”

Written and directed by Mahmud Mahin, the drama stars Yash Rohan and Totini in the lead roles. It airs Friday (July 10) at 10:30 p.m. on Maasranga Television.
