Barcelona, which fell into severe financial crisis during the coronavirus pandemic, has now bounced back to set a new record. The Catalan club topped 1 billion euros in revenue for the first time in a single season in 2025-26 — equivalent to roughly 15,700 crore taka.
According to Barcelona’s published financial report, the club’s total revenue for the season that just ended stood at approximately 1.1 billion euros. The previous season’s figure was 994 million euros, marking a significant year-on-year increase.
The club’s historic Camp Nou stadium played the biggest role behind the record revenue. Ongoing renovation work meant the stadium could not be used at full capacity throughout the season. Some matches early in the season had to be held at Estadi Johan Cruyff and the Olympic Stadium. Even after returning to Camp Nou, spectator capacity remained limited to 42,000.
Despite these constraints, the club views collecting nearly the full budgeted revenue as a major achievement. According to Barcelona, this was the most financially successful season in the club’s history, in which it crossed the 1-billion-euro threshold for the first time.
The club says stadium operations and matchday revenue growth were among the main drivers of this success. Barcelona officials are hopeful that revenue will grow further once Camp Nou is fully operational.
Besides stadium revenue, significant income also came from sponsorship and the club’s merchandising arm, Barca Licensing and Merchandising (BLM). Last season, the company’s revenue was about 200 million euros, equivalent to roughly 2,860 crore taka.
Barcelona first set the target of 1 billion euros in single-season revenue back in 2018. But the coronavirus pandemic delayed those plans. Eight years later, the club has finally reached the milestone it sought.
Alongside its financial success, Barcelona also shone on the pitch. Under German coach Hansi Flick, the club won the Spanish La Liga title for a second consecutive season.
However, Barca still trails longtime rival Real Madrid in revenue. Real’s revenue last season was about 17,400 crore taka. The gap between the two clubs is gradually narrowing, though. Barcelona spent about 2,485 crore taka on player signings last summer to strengthen the squad.
Real Madrid was the first club in football history to reach 1 billion euros in single-season revenue, achieving the milestone in the 2023-24 season. Barcelona has now joined that same bracket.
