Continuing the trend of the first month of the current 2026-27 fiscal year, the upward flow of remittances continued in the first five days of August too. In this period, $602 million in remittances came into the country — 83.7 percent more than the same period of the last fiscal year.
The figures were given in Bangladesh Bank’s latest updated data on Thursday (6 August).
On 4 and 5 August alone, expatriates sent home $196 million in remittances.
From the start of the current fiscal year — that is, from 1 July to 5 August — total remittances came to $3.461 billion. In the same period of the last fiscal year, the figure was $2.806 billion.
In the year to 5 August of the current 2026-27 fiscal year, total remittance flow grew by 23.3 percent.
According to Bangladesh Bank, with the trend of sending remittances through legal banking channels continuing, the country’s foreign-currency inflow is strengthening further — playing a positive role in foreign-exchange reserves and the wider economy.
