Construction of the main gate of Singhajhuli Alim Madrasa in Chaugachha, Jashore, has been inaugurated.
Yunus Ali Dafadar, former general secretary of the upazila BNP, inaugurated the work on Wednesday morning. The madrasa’s acting principal, Maulana Asadullah, presided.
Also present were Afil Uddin Dafadar, representative of reserved-seat MP Sabira Sultana Munni; the madrasa’s assistant professors Maulana Nuruzzaman Al Mamun and Wahidul Islam Bakul; Maulana Mukhtar Hussain; Maulana Hafizur Rahman; assistant teacher Wajed Ali; social workers Anwar Hossain Dewan, Shafiuddin Dewan and Azim Uddin Dewan; Shamsul Huda Dafadar and others.
Completing the madrasa’s main gate will cost about Tk 3 lakh. Two prominent residents of Singhajhuli village, Shafiuddin Dewan and Anwar Hossain Dewan, are bearing the full cost.
Their forefathers played a part in founding the madrasa.
