TANGAIL — Hafez Maulana Manwar Hossain Sagar, the parliamentary candidate of Islami Andolan Bangladesh (hand-fan symbol) for Tangail-2 (Gopalpur-Bhuapur), was fined 10,000 taka for violating the electoral code of conduct.

The fine was imposed by a mobile court Monday morning, Jan. 26, during a campaign rally for the hand-fan symbol held at the upazila bus stand square. The mobile court was led by executive magistrate and assistant commissioner (land) Md. Rajib Hossain.

Hossain said the candidate was fined 10,000 taka for setting up a hand-fan campaign office at a government facility in violation of the electoral code. Election campaigning at that office has also been banned. Legal action will be taken against any candidate who violates the electoral code, he said.
