Four-vehicle crash in Bhaluka kills 2, injures 6

MYMENSINGH — A speeding passenger bus lost control and struck a CNG auto-rickshaw, a battery rickshaw and a motorcycle in front of Tafrid Cotton Mill at Club Bazar in the Bharadoba area of Bhaluka upazila around noon Friday, killing two people including a woman and injuring six others, officials said.

An unidentified woman and an elderly man were killed at the scene, according to local sources. Locals rescued the injured and took them to Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex and nearby hospitals, and the injured were later transferred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital after initial treatment.

Dr. Minara, medical officer at Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex, said two people were brought in dead. Six injured people received initial treatment before being sent to Mymensingh for advanced care, she said.

Police arrived at the scene after being alerted, brought the situation under control and seized the bus involved in the crash, officials said.

Atikur Rahman, senior station officer of the Bhaluka Fire Service, said rescue operations began shortly after responders reached the scene. He confirmed that one person died at the location.

Traffic in the area was disrupted briefly before returning to normal, officials said.
