The three-day “Global Sourcing Expo Dhaka 2026” begins in Dhaka on 15 November, with the aim of expanding the country’s exports, finding new international markets and strengthening links between Bangladeshi producers and exporters and foreign buyers. This second edition includes 12 sectors instead of last year’s eight, and the organiser, the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), expects about 200 companies to take part.

The exhibition will be held from 15 to 17 November at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre (Big Wave). Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir MP will open the expo.

According to the EPB, the expo was held for the first time last year and has been widened this year. The 12 sectors are ready-made garments and textiles; leather and leather goods; handicrafts and jute goods; agriculture and agro-processed products; plastic goods and kitchenware; furniture and home decor; pharmaceuticals; information and communication technology (ICT); paper and packaging; automobiles; light engineering; and ceramics and tableware.

The EPB has already taken various steps to increase the participation of international buyers and showcase Bangladesh’s products and production capacity abroad. Letters seeking cooperation have been sent to ambassadors and high commissioners in Bangladesh, and commercial counsellors at Bangladesh’s embassies and high commissions abroad have been actively involved.

To make the expo more effective and useful for international business links, a meeting was held at 3pm on Wednesday, 28 October, with ambassadors and high commissioners in Bangladesh, joint chambers, buyers’ forums and representatives of trade promotion organisations of various countries.

Earlier, a meeting on preparations for the expo was held with representatives of chambers and associations, chaired by the EPB’s vice-chairman and chief executive.

The organisers hope that with the coordinated participation of local and foreign stakeholders, the event will bring new momentum to Bangladesh’s exports. They expect “Global Sourcing Expo Dhaka 2026” to play an important role in building business ties between international buyers and suppliers, creating new market opportunities and establishing Bangladesh’s trade potential more firmly in the world.

The Export Promotion Bureau hopes that if the event succeeds year after year, Bangladesh’s position in global sourcing will grow stronger.
