Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that more than 200 US soldiers have been killed in 15 days of fighting with the United States. The IRGC’s spokesman, Hossein Mohebi, made the claim in an interview with Iran’s news agency Tasnim.
In his claim, the losses and casualties suffered by US forces in Iran’s retaliatory strikes are far higher than the figures Washington has released.
The IRGC claims that eight US military bases were struck in Operation Victory-2. Among them, missiles hit 20 installations and aircraft hangars at one base. It says these strikes destroyed 11 US fighter aircraft and helicopters, 17 intelligence and operational drones, one F-15 fighter jet, one P-8 maritime patrol aircraft, one C-17 transport aircraft and eight aerial refuelling aircraft.
The Pentagon had earlier said 18 US soldiers had been killed in the fighting. Several international media outlets later reported, however, that the revised figure was 14. The United States had released the photographs and names of some of them.
