Seven more children have died with measles symptoms nationwide in the past 24 hours, taking the total death toll from measles and its symptoms since March 15 this year to 1,019. An additional 855 new measles cases and symptoms were also reported over the past day.
The information was released Saturday (September 12) in the Health Directorate’s regular measles report. The Health Directorate said a total of 1,019 people have died from measles and its symptoms nationwide from March 15 through Saturday. Of these, 919 died with measles symptoms and 100 died after confirmed measles infection.
Meanwhile, 39 new confirmed measles cases were identified nationwide in the past 24 hours. An additional 816 people showed symptoms of the disease during the same period. This brings the total number of people showing measles symptoms since March 15 through Saturday to 170,638. Alongside this, a total of 20,006 confirmed measles cases have been identified during this period.
According to the Health Directorate’s report, a total of 150,202 people have been hospitalised nationwide with measles symptoms from March 15 through today, Saturday. Of these, 144,485 have recovered and been discharged from hospital so far.
