Three more people died of suspected measles in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services. None of the deaths were confirmed measles cases during this period.
The information was disclosed in a measles bulletin issued Saturday by the health directorate, covering the 24 hours from 8 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday.
The health directorate said that since March 15, a total of 963 people have died either from confirmed measles or from measles-like symptoms. Of these, 864 died with measles symptoms, while 99 died from confirmed measles.
Dhaka division has recorded the highest number of deaths involving measles symptoms, at 387, followed by Sylhet division with 148. Barishal division recorded 51 deaths, Chattogram 64, Khulna 34, Mymensingh 74, Rajshahi 92, and Rangpur division 14.
According to the health directorate, 886 new cases with measles symptoms were recorded nationwide in the past 24 hours. This brings the total number of people who have shown measles symptoms since March 15 to 155,678. During the same period, 57 confirmed measles cases were recorded. In total, 18,853 confirmed measles cases have been recorded nationwide since March 15.
