1 more dies with measles symptoms, 1,154 new cases reported

One more child died with measles symptoms nationwide in the 24 hours from 8 a.m. Thursday to 8 a.m. Friday. Over the same period, 1,154 children newly fell ill with suspected or confirmed measles, including 40 confirmed cases.

The figures were released in a press statement from the Directorate General of Health Services on Friday (Sept. 4). According to the directorate, a total of 888 children have died with measles symptoms since March 15, while 99 children have died of confirmed measles — bringing combined deaths from measles and measles symptoms to 987.

The total number of measles-related cases during this period stands at 162,262 children, of whom 19,567 have confirmed measles.
