UK wants to work closely with government: Sarah Cook

British High Commissioner to Dhaka Sarah Cook has expressed her commitment to working closely with the Bangladesh government to further advance the partnership between the two countries and ensure visible, concrete benefits for both.

She made the remarks while speaking with reporters at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday, after meeting with State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir.

Sarah Cook said the strength and scope of the UK-Bangladesh partnership are continually deepening and strengthening. Discussions between the two countries touched on trade and investment, migration cooperation, support on the Rohingya crisis, and various regional and international issues of shared priority.

The British high commissioner said the UK and Bangladesh have a long-standing partnership, built on deep ties between the two peoples, vibrant trade and investment, and close cooperation on regional and global issues.

Expressing pleasure at meeting the state minister for foreign affairs and having the opportunity to work closely with him, Sarah Cook said she looks forward to working closely with the Bangladesh government to further advance this strong partnership and deliver visible, concrete benefits for both countries.
