DHAKA — The country’s main bourse, the Dhaka Stock Exchange, closed lower as most companies’ share prices fell, leaving the market with a negative tone.
Over the course of the day’s trading, a total of 247,276,433 shares and mutual fund units of 391 companies changed hands on the DSE.
Total turnover was 767.68 crore taka (about $62.8 million).
The DSE broad index, DSEX, fell 18.86 points from the previous trading day to close at 5,248.37 points.
The DSE-30 index dropped 8.08 points to 2,009.09, and the Shariah index (DSES) fell 1.92 points to 1,058.51.
Of the companies that traded, 108 gained, 216 declined and 67 closed unchanged.
The top 10 companies by turnover were Munnu Ceramics, Dominage Steel, Malek Spinning, Techno Drugs, GQ Ballpen, Taufika Foods, City Bank, Beximco Pharmaceuticals, Uttara Bank and Mir Akhter.
The top 10 gainers were Munnu Ceramics, Mozaffar Hossain Spinning Mills, Silco Pharma, Sikder Insurance, Apex Spinning, Saiham Textile, Techno Drugs, Malek Spinning, Apex Tannery and JMI Hospital Requisite.
The top 10 losers were Fareast Finance, Intraco Resources, Premier Leasing, United Insurance, BIFC, Hamid Fabrics, Prime Finance, BD Welding, Takaful Insurance and KPCL. BSS
