Indices on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the country’s main bourse, fell sharply on the last trading day of the week. The DSEX, the DSE’s main index, dropped 17.89 points to 5,578.33.
The DS30 index fell 10.55 points to 2,112.13, and the DSE Shariah index fell 3.44 points to 1,115.89.
Shares and mutual fund units of 388 companies were traded on the DSE on Thursday (September 24). Of them, 141 gained, 190 declined and 57 were unchanged.
A total of 238,268,268 shares and units changed hands on the DSE on the day, with a total value of Tk 7,563,161,006, or about Tk 756.31 crore.
The top 10 companies by turnover were IDLC Finance, GQ Ball Pen, Square Pharmaceuticals, Envoy Textiles, Sharp Industries, Mercantile Islami Insurance, BRAC Bank, Saiham Textile, Sena Insurance and Dominage Steel.
The top 10 gainers were C&A Textiles, Sena Insurance, Emerald Oil Industries, Tung Hai Knitting, Prime Bank, 1st ICB AMCL Mutual Fund, Bangladesh National Insurance, ICB AMCL Second Mutual Fund, Mercantile Islami Insurance and Reliance One the First Scheme of Reliance Insurance Mutual Fund.
The top 10 losers were Saiham Textile, the Ashuganj Power Station Company non-convertible fully redeemable coupon-bearing bond, Southeast Bank 1st Perpetual Bond, Khan Brothers PP Woven, Premier Cement, Information Services Network, Orion Infusion, Mir Akhter Hossain, the 10-year BGTB and BD Thai Food.
