Amid rumours that the system of teacher recruitment by managing committees at private educational institutions is to be brought back, Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon has given a clear message. He said the government has taken no decision at all on recruiting teachers through managing committees, and that someone had taken a discussion out of context and published it in the press.
He made the remarks on Tuesday (11 August) morning at an event of the Education Reform Initiative (ERI).
The minister said no final decision had yet been taken on the matter involving the NTRCA and the recruitment of MPO-listed teachers, and that the entire process was at a preliminary discussion stage.
Explaining what lay behind the reports, he said part of a confidential discussion had been leaked out of context and published in the press, which did not present the accurate picture. He assured that the government had taken no step to return the power to recruit teachers to managing committees.
