Iran’s military will not retreat until the US and Israeli forces are “completely defeated,” Iran’s armed forces General Staff has pledged in a statement marking the anniversary of the return of Iranian prisoners of war from Iraq in 1990. The claim could not be independently verified.
The statement said: “The tradition of resistance has been passed to a new generation of Iranians, who have stood up against a force described as the world’s best-equipped military.”
It said Iran would continue pursuing the country’s rightful claims “until the enemy surrenders.” The statement, published via Fars News Agency, Iran’s state-affiliated outlet, praised public support for Iran’s armed forces and accused the United States of aggression and seeking to expand its dominance in the region.
