Saudi Arabia has launched a new program called the “package visa” to make travel easier for foreign tourists. Under the program, travelers can obtain tourist visas through an integrated travel package that includes flights, accommodation and other travel services.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said the initiative is being implemented on a trial basis through licensed travel and tourism service providers, according to Gulf News.
Under the new package visa, eligible travelers can apply for a tourist visa through an integrated package. These packages may include round-trip flight tickets, approved hotel or accommodation bookings, and electronic visa application facilities. Tourists will also be able to take part in various events, tour activities and visit attractions.
This will reduce the need to separately arrange flight tickets, hotel bookings and visa processing. However, only licensed travel service providers with a digital platform, the necessary technical capability and 24-hour customer service will be able to offer this service.
The initiative is part of a broader plan to expand the tourism sector under the Saudi government’s “Vision 2030.” The country’s tourism ministry, foreign ministry, interior ministry and insurance authority worked jointly to implement the program.
Saudi Tourism Minister Ahmed Al Khateeb said: “Saudi Arabia’s tourism progress has always reflected ambition, openness and continuous development. Through the package visa, we are making the journey easier for tourists and modernizing travel further.”
