Desh Rupantar daily marks 7th anniversary in Narail

NARAIL — The Bengali daily Desh Rupantar marked its seventh anniversary in Narail on Saturday with a procession, a discussion meeting and a cake-cutting ceremony at the Narail Press Club, organizers said.

The event was held under the theme “The face of Bengal in our hearts” and began around 11 a.m. on May 2. The program included a rally and an exchange of greetings with officials from various offices and people of different professions.

Ataur Rahman Bachchu, the lawmaker for Narail-2, was chief guest. Azizul Islam, senior vice president of the Narail Press Club, presided. Abdus Sattar, the Narail correspondent for Desh Rupantar, delivered the welcome address.

Special guests included Hafez Maulana Abdullah Al Amin, the Jamaat-e-Islami chief for Narail Sadar upazila; Mahbubur Rashid Lablu, general secretary of the Narail Press Club; Tarikuzzaman Litu, former president of the Narail district bar association; Alamgir Siddiqui, former president of the press club; and journalists Farhad Khan, Asad Rahman, Shariful Islam Bablu and Shubho Sarkar, among others.

Bachchu presented a token of appreciation to the newspaper during the program.

Speakers said Desh Rupantar should retain public trust through objective reporting and should also strengthen its online and digital platforms alongside the print edition.
