The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has reduced gold prices in the domestic market. The price of 22-karat gold has been cut by Tk 3,226 per bhori to Tk 2,25,290 including VAT.
BAJUS announced the new rates in a notice on Monday at noon. The revised prices took effect from 10 am the same day.
The association said the price of pure (acid-tested) gold had fallen in the local market, prompting the adjustment.
Under the new rates, 22-karat gold is priced at Tk 2,25,290 per bhori (11.664 grams) including VAT. The price of 21-karat gold is Tk 2,15,142, 18-karat gold is Tk 1,84,757, and traditional-method gold is Tk 1,50,932 per bhori.
In the most recent previous adjustment last Friday, BAJUS had raised 22-karat gold by Tk 4,374 per bhori to Tk 2,28,556 including VAT.
Gold prices in the domestic market have been adjusted 87 times so far this year — with 43 increases, 43 decreases, and one VAT adjustment.
