The National Citizen Party (NCP) has announced its mayoral candidates for Dhaka’s two city corporation elections. Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan has been named the candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation, and Nasiruddin Patwari for Dhaka South City Corporation.
NCP convener and opposition chief whip Nahid Islam announced the candidates’ names on Sunday (September 13). He made the announcement at an exchange-of-views meeting at the NCP office in the afternoon with prospective councillor candidates from various wards under Dhaka North and South city corporations.
During the meeting, he gave instructions on identifying prospective councillor candidates, ward-level civic problems, staying continuously engaged with the families of July martyrs and the injured, and keeping close watch on subversive activities by the fallen and fugitive Awami League. The meeting was attended by NCP-backed prospective mayoral candidates Nasiruddin Patwari and Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan for Dhaka South and North respectively, Dhaka North metropolitan convener and party senior joint convener Ariful Islam Adib, Dhaka South metropolitan convener Ishaq Sarkar, and various other leaders from the north and south metropolitan units.
