Shibir honours top students in Chuadanga

Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir’s Chuadanga district unit has held a reception for students who achieved GPA-5 in the SSC, Dakhil and equivalent examinations in Chuadanga.

The reception was held at around 9:30am on Saturday (September 19) on the grounds of the Chamber of Commerce building in Chuadanga town.

The event was chaired by Chuadanga district Chhatra Shibir president Sagar Ahmed and conducted by district secretary Hafez Masum Billah. Mostakur Rahman Zahid, the organisation’s central social welfare secretary and vice-president of the Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (RUCSU), attended as chief guest.

Special guests were advocate Asadullah, former president of Islamic University Chhatra Shibir, and Anas Ibne Monir, executive member of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and international secretary of Dhaka University Shibir.

Others present included Md Anwarul Haque Malik, former district ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami and a candidate for the post of Chuadanga Sadar upazila chairman, and Mohsin Emdadullah Jamin, a former district president of Shibir, along with leaders and activists of the organisation at various levels. Students who achieved GPA-5 and their parents also attended the reception.

Speakers at the event said that while achieving GPA-5 is an important success in a student’s education, it is not the final goal. To achieve real success, they said, students must be strengthened in moral values, honest character and humane qualities alongside their institutional education. Only when education is combined with principled character will the ability they have gained be able to play an effective part in the good of society and the state.

Speakers called on the students to build themselves into honest, capable, moral and responsible citizens in order to lead the Bangladesh of the future. Certificates of honour were handed to the successful students at the end of the event.
