Six of the National Citizen Party’s (NCP) members of parliament had, at one time or another, been connected to Chhatra Shibir in various ways — organisationally or as coaching teachers — Abdullah Hil Baki has said.

He made the comment in a post on his verified Facebook account at 1 a.m. on Saturday night, June 20. In the post he wrote that six of the NCP’s MPs had, before or later, been connected to Shibir in various ways — organisationally or as coaching teachers. Their paths and ways of thinking might now have become separate, he said, adding that there was nothing to turn one’s nose up at over this, and nothing to exaggerate either.

He further wrote that, every couple of days, this squabble flared up in the NCP over who was a former Shibir member and who was not, with people weighed on a scale over such matters. Someone had come to the NCP precisely because they would not do the politics of Shibir or Jamaat, he wrote, and that should be accepted gladly.

Abdullah Hil Baki said the NCP was a secular party and would do centrist politics. The party had been formed by embracing this line of politics, he said, adding that no one could really say in advance which direction the future would take.
