Applications for admission to class XI for students who have just passed the SSC and equivalent exams began Wednesday (Sept. 2). Students applying online will need to pay a fee of 220 taka.
A student may list a minimum of five and a maximum of 10 colleges in order of preference. Applications will continue until 8 p.m. on Sept. 10. Applications must be submitted through the website www.xiclassadmission.gov.bd. Unlike last year, when applications were accepted in three phases, this year they will be accepted in a single phase.
The Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education published the class XI admission policy on Aug. 24. The Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee published the schedule for applications, results, admission and the start of classes on the same day. Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, chairman of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and chairman of the Dhaka Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, said Tuesday that all preparations for accepting class XI admission applications have been completed. Students whose results changed after re-checking their SSC and equivalent exam results will be able to apply until 8 p.m. on Sept. 12 and 13.
Other students will be able to change their order of preference during the same period.
After the application period ends, results for selected students will be published at 8 p.m. on Sept. 17. Selected students must confirm their selection by 8 p.m. on Sept. 19. To do so, they must pay a total of 340 taka to the education board under various heads. If confirmation is not made within the set time, the selection and application will be canceled.
Selected students will be admitted to colleges and madrasas between Sept. 20 and 22. Class XI classes will begin on Sept. 23.
Admission fees have also been set based on the type and location of the college. MPO-listed colleges in Dhaka metropolitan area may charge up to 5,000 taka, and 3,000 taka in other metropolitan areas. At the district level, up to 2,000 taka may be charged, and 1,500 taka in upazila and rural areas. Rates are higher at non-MPO or partially MPO-listed colleges. In addition, a Red Crescent fee of 24 taka and an annual sports grant of up to 400 taka may be charged.
