Seasonal weather changes can significantly increase hair loss. Experts say the root cause is not just the weather but underlying nutritional deficiencies.

US-based nutritionist Abhishri Goyal said the main cause of hair loss is internal nutritional deficiency. Iron deficiency, insufficient protein intake, and shortages of vitamin D, vitamin B-12, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acids all contribute to hair loss. She added that crash diets, irregular eating habits, excessive caffeine intake, and prolonged dehydration can also disrupt normal hair growth, causing follicles to enter the resting phase prematurely.

Spinach

Spinach is rich in iron, folate, and vitamin A, which help supply adequate oxygen to the scalp. Experts recommend including spinach in your daily diet to address iron deficiency.

Chia seeds

Small in size but packed with nutrition, chia seeds are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids. They help reduce scalp inflammation and keep the scalp moisturized, making them particularly beneficial for dry, itchy scalps.

Walnuts

Walnuts are one of the best sources of omega-3 fatty acids and essential minerals. These nutrients strengthen hair roots and reduce inflammation, creating a favorable environment for new hair growth.

Cottage cheese

Cottage cheese is an excellent source of protein for vegetarians. Its high-quality protein and calcium strengthen hair structure and support keratin production, making hair stronger and healthier.

Salmon

For those who eat seafood, salmon is an ideal food. It contains omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, and high-quality protein. These nutrients help maintain hair density and reduce dryness.
