Popular American television actor Giancarlo Esposito has converted to Islam. The actor, known worldwide for playing Gus Fring in the series ‘Breaking Bad,’ is currently taking part in the shooting of a film in Saudi Arabia, where he formally embraced Islam.
Turki Al-Sheikh, head of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, confirmed the information. According to him, Esposito entered Islam by reciting the shahada. During filming, he also took part in prayers with colleagues at a mosque. Several videos circulating on social media showed him standing in a row with worshippers, offering prayers.
Turki Al-Sheikh said that, during his stay in Saudi Arabia, Esposito’s close acquaintance with the local Muslim community, their way of life and their positive conduct had made a deep impression on him. The Hollywood actor also praised the people’s warmth, hospitality and social harmony.
Over a career of several decades, Giancarlo Esposito has carved out a distinctive place in television and film.
