Pay scale gazette to be published Sept. 6

The process of publishing the gazette for the new national pay scale has begun. The draft pay scale has already been sent to the Bangladesh Government Press (BG Press), a finance ministry official said, adding that the draft was sent yesterday.

According to sources, the draft will move from BG Press to the finance ministry, then go through vetting at the law ministry before formally receiving an SRO number and being published.

Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani had earlier announced that the Ninth Pay Scale notification would be published by Thursday, but finance ministry officials say the process has caused some delay.

Finance Secretary Dr Khairuzzaman Majumder told media that the Ninth National Pay Scale-2026 notification will be issued this coming Sunday, Sept. 6.

The Cabinet approved the new pay structure this past Monday. Preparations are also underway within the government to secure the funds needed to implement the new pay scale.

Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani said the funds needed for the new pay scale had already been factored into the government’s medium-term budget framework (MTBF), meaning it is not an unexpected expense for the government.

“The government doesn’t just budget for a single year — it also makes advance estimates of likely income and expenditure for the next several years,” he said. “The likely cost of the new pay scale was already factored into that planning.”
