Five more people have died in the country from measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours. During the same period, 1,170 new cases of suspected or confirmed measles were recorded.
The information was disclosed in a press release issued Friday by the Directorate General of Health Services’ control room.
The Directorate General of Health Services said 1,170 people were identified with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours. This brings the total number of people with measles-like symptoms from March 15 through August 28 to 154,792.
Meanwhile, 70 new confirmed measles cases were recorded in the past 24 hours. The total number of confirmed measles cases nationwide from March 15 through August 28 has reached 18,796.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, a total of 135,473 people were hospitalized with measles-like symptoms from March 15 through August 28. During the same period, 130,457 people were treated, recovered and discharged from hospitals.
Death figures show that five people died from measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours. This brings the total number of deaths from measles-like symptoms from March 15 through August 28 to 861.
However, no deaths were recorded from confirmed measles in the past 24 hours. A total of 99 people have died from confirmed measles from March 15 through August 28.
According to the latest figures released by the Directorate General of Health Services, the number of measles cases and deaths in the country remains at a concerning level.
