Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has announced that 100,000 health workers will be recruited nationwide. He shared the information while speaking with reporters on Tuesday (July 7).

The finance minister said the government has taken up an initiative to recruit the necessary personnel to make the country’s healthcare system more effective and people-friendly, with a target of recruiting 100,000 health workers nationwide.

He said there is competition between the public and private healthcare systems. While private-sector healthcare quality is comparatively better, the public healthcare system lags somewhat behind. The government, he said, is working continuously to narrow that gap.

Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury also said the health sector has been given special priority in the current budget, with initiatives in place both to procure modern medical equipment and to encourage entrepreneurs in the health sector.

He said the government, elected by the people’s vote, remains firmly committed to ensuring quality healthcare for all.
