Powerful storms and thundery rain may hit 10 districts of the country at up to 60 km per hour, the Meteorological Department has said.
The information came in a warning issued for the country’s inland river ports until 1 p.m. on the weekly holiday on Friday (June 12).
The warning said that temporary gusts or squalls may blow at 45 to 60 km per hour from the east or south-east over the districts of Mymensingh, Tangail, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet.
There is a chance of rain or thundery rain during this time. The river ports in these areas have therefore been asked to hoist warning signal No. 1.
