Two more children die with measles symptoms; toll reaches 585

Two more children have died with measles symptoms in the country in the past 24 hours, though no death from confirmed measles occurred in that period. Over the past 77 days, 585 people have died from measles or its symptoms.

The information was given on Sunday (May 31) afternoon by the Directorate General of Health Services’ Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room.

According to DGHS data, 585 children have died from measles or measles-like symptoms since March 15. Of them, the number of deaths from confirmed measles stands at 90, while 495 died with measles symptoms.

In the past 24 hours, 53 children were infected with measles, and measles-like symptoms were found in 1,324 children. To date, 9,049 children have been infected with measles, and the number of suspected measles cases is 70,936.
