Five more children die with measles symptoms in Bangladesh

Five more children died with measles symptoms across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 1,077 children were newly infected with measles or measles symptoms over the same period.

The figures were released Tuesday afternoon in an updated measles report from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The report said that while five children died with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours, no child died from confirmed measles during that period.

Since March 15, a total of 844 children have died with measles symptoms nationwide, with a further 99 children dying from confirmed measles. In all, 943 children have died from measles or measles symptoms during this period.

In the past 24 hours, 91 children were confirmed to have measles, while 986 showed measles symptoms. Over the same period, 890 children were newly hospitalized and 890 were released from hospital.
