Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) authorities have decided to permanently dismiss six teachers for failing to rejoin their posts on time after their study leave expired. The recommendation against them was made at a meeting of the university’s syndicate.
The decision was made unanimously at the university’s 109th syndicate meeting on Saturday (September 12). The teachers are: Md Meftaul Islam Saikat of the Agricultural Chemistry department, Marjana Yasmin of the Agronomy department, Saifullah Shahriar of the Faculty of Soil Science, Md Javed Azad of the Agricultural Extension department, Mosa Mahmuda Parvin of the Finance and Management department, and K B M Saiful Islam of the Medicine and Public Health department. University sources said the six teachers went abroad on study leave. They failed to rejoin their posts even after the designated leave period ended. The university administration issued them show-cause notices over the matter. However, as their responses were not deemed satisfactory by the authorities, the matter was brought before the syndicate. Following the university’s established rules, a decision was then made to permanently dismiss them.
