Six new ministers and junior ministers are set to join the cabinet under Prime Minister Tareque Rahman. They will be sworn in at Bangabhaban on Friday evening, August 21, immediately after the president’s oath-taking.
Of the six set to be sworn in, three are ministers and three are junior ministers.
The new ministers and junior ministers are: Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan (minister for local government, rural development and cooperatives), Barrister Andaleeve Rahman Partho (information minister), Sachingprue Jerry (minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts affairs) and M Rashiduzzaman Millat (minister for civil aviation and tourism).
Humayun Kabir (junior minister for foreign affairs) and Mohammad Shameem Kaisar Lincoln (junior minister for religious affairs) are also among the six.
The new ministers and junior ministers have already arrived at Bangabhaban for the swearing-in, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is due to take his oath at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The new ministers and junior ministers will be sworn in immediately after the president’s oath.
A Bangabhaban official said more than 1,200 guests have been invited to the president’s swearing-in ceremony. The new cabinet members will be sworn in at the same Darbar Hall following the president’s oath.
The Cabinet Division said the new ministers and junior ministers will be sworn in by newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
