Five more people are set to join the cabinet under Prime Minister Tareque Rahman. One of the five under discussion confirmed the information, though he declined to be named. The Cabinet Division has already contacted several of the prospective ministers and junior ministers and asked them to be present at Bangabhaban on Friday evening.

BNP party sources say Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will be sworn in as president at Bangabhaban in the evening. He will then administer the oath to the new ministers.

According to the source that provided the information, Abdul Moyeen Khan, Humayun Kabir, Andaleeve Rahman Partho and Sachingprue Jerry are expected to join the cabinet as full ministers, while Mohammad Shameem Kaisar Lincoln is expected to become a junior minister.

Abdul Moyeen Khan, under discussion as a prospective minister, is a member of BNP’s standing committee. He is the member of parliament for Narsingdi-2, elected to the seat as a BNP candidate in the 13th national parliamentary election.

Humayun Kabir currently serves in the government as the prime minister’s adviser on foreign affairs, a post with junior-minister rank. Alongside foreign affairs, he also serves as adviser on the ministries of disaster management and relief, and civil aviation and tourism.

Andaleeve Rahman Partho is chairman of the Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP — the Bangladeshi party, distinct from India’s Bharatiya Janata Party). His party contested the election in alliance with BNP. He is the member of parliament for Bhola-1.

Sachingprue Jerry is the member of parliament for Bandarban, having won the seat as a BNP candidate. Mohammad Shameem Kaisar Lincoln, under discussion as a prospective junior minister, is the member of parliament for Gaibandha-4 (Gobindaganj).

When the government was formed under Tareque Rahman’s leadership last February, the cabinet had 50 members including the prime minister — 25 sworn in as ministers and 24 as junior ministers. In addition, the prime minister has 10 advisers, five holding minister rank and five holding junior-minister rank.
