BEIRUT — At least nine people were killed and 13 wounded in Israeli airstrikes on several towns in southern Lebanon on Thursday, April 30, despite a ceasefire, the country’s media reported.
The state-run National News Agency said three people were killed and seven wounded in a strike on the town of Jibchit, where a residential building was destroyed.
In the town of Tul, four people were killed and six wounded, and another residential building was destroyed.
The news agency said two more people were killed in the town of Haruf when a house was damaged in an Israeli airstrike.
Israeli warplanes also struck the town of Sultaniyeh, while artillery shelling targeted the outskirts of Zawtar al-Sharqiya and Mifdoun.
According to government figures, Israel has carried out attacks on Lebanon since March 2, killing at least 2,534 people and wounding 7,863. More than 1.6 million people have been displaced, nearly one-fifth of the country’s population.
The 10-day ceasefire that began on April 17 has been extended, but Israel is violating it daily.
