Imran Riza, the UN humanitarian coordinator in Lebanon, said approximately one million people have been displaced by Israeli aggression in the country. He shared this information during a seminar in Beirut on Tuesday, adding that 1.4 million people currently require humanitarian assistance in Lebanon.
Riza said that while aid is essential, the scale of the crisis in Lebanon cannot be addressed through relief supplies alone. He said this emergency is not merely humanitarian but deeply linked to the country’s social and economic conditions, and is closely connected to the labor market.
Israel has continued attacks in southern Lebanon even after a US-mediated ceasefire agreement. According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, at least 4,278 people have been killed in Israeli attacks on the country since March 2.
