A young man identified as Md Zubair, 28, was killed when a motorcycle collided with a bus on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Ghior, Manikganj. Another motorcycle passenger, Md Israfil, 17, was injured in the accident.
The accident occurred Friday, August 28, afternoon in the Pukhuria area of Ghior upazila.
The deceased, Zubair, was a resident of Bachamara village in Daulatpur upazila, Manikganj. The injured Israfil is a resident of Shatragandi village in Nagarpur upazila, Tangail.
Police and local sources said Zubair and Israfil were riding a motorcycle toward Shibalaya. When they reached the Pukhuria area around noon, their motorcycle collided with a Selfie Paribahan bus traveling from Paturia to Dhaka. The motorcycle struck the bus, throwing both riders onto the road. Motorcycle driver Zubair died at the scene. Israfil was injured.
Local residents later rescued the injured Israfil and sent him to Manikganj for treatment.
Borongail Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (in-charge) Md Harun Or Rashid said: “One person died and another was injured in the accident. A case is being processed over the incident.”
