Police in Kotchandpur, Jhenaidah, have taken a tough stance against drugs, teen gangs and other criminal activity. Azad Rahman, officer-in-charge of Kotchandpur Model Police Station, has announced that regular operations will be further intensified to keep law and order normal and to build the upazila into a peaceful one.

He made the announcement while meeting with local journalists in the OC’s office at the police station around 8 p.m. Friday night.

OC Azad Rahman said police will work with maximum sincerity to keep Kotchandpur’s law-and-order situation under control. The spread of drugs and drug trafficking, teen gangs and other activity that creates a negative influence on society will not be tolerated under any circumstances, he said, and legal action will be taken against these as needed.

He added that policing alone cannot make an upazila crime-free. That requires the cooperation of elected representatives, journalists, teachers, business owners and other conscious members of society, he said, calling on residents to inform police of any information about drugs or criminal activity anywhere in Kotchandpur.

During the exchange, journalists raised various aspects of Kotchandpur’s drug problem, teen gangs, social decline and the overall law-and-order situation. Police and journalists discussed working together, in coordination, to control crime.

Police officers from Kotchandpur Model Police Station and local journalists attended the meeting.
